Mum is back home
This morning Mum was allowed home from the hospital, to everyone's relief. She did find the drive back a little wearying so she slept for most of the afternoon in her own bed.
Tonight Marlee went to visit her, as she had been asking about Marlee whilst in hospital. We had a sit down dinner, something Mum hadn't done for a while, and Marlee ran around like the silly dog that she is. It seems Mum has her appetite back too.
She looks well and much happier to be home. Now Dad has to play nurse, although I think Mum will be much harder on him than the nurses at the hospital!
Not home yet
Mum is still in hospital at this stage. She had some reactions with the chemotherapy, so they took her off the treatment for a day for her body to recover, before continuing on an adjusted dose. She is quite chirpy and looks well. So as soon as she regains some of her strength back (from being bed bound and inundated with pharmacuticals) and is stable with the treatment, she can go home to continue her recuperation in a couple of days.At the moment her specialists are sure that her pancreas is the primary source of the cancer, and that the lungs are the secondary.
Mum going home soon
As some of you know, Mum Nancy has been in hospital this past week and a half. She has had shortness of breath and some abdominal pain for quite a few weeks, and in trying to find out what is wrong, the doctors and specialists have found that she has a few ulcers in her stomach, as well as some small tumors in her lungs. They are also investigating some abnormalities in her pancreas.
Today they started her on some chemotherapy, and depending on how she feels, may be home tomorrow or sometime over the weekend. So she will be taking it very easy for a while. Thank you for everyone's concern and kind thoughts, she is doing fine. We will endeavour to keep everyone up to date, as we find out more about her condition (the diagnosis has changed a couple of times during medical investigations). Tests are ongoing at this stage, and Nancy will be glad when they stop poking, prodding and treating her as a pin cushion!
Back to Melbourne
The sun shone this morning as we packed the last of our things to go back to Melbourne; it was kind of cruel. But we're back where its just a little bit colder. Its good to be home anyway.
Last weekend
Cam and Di have left us and its just the three of us for the remaining days. I guess we'll just do more of the same... wake up, go into town for brunch, walk on the beach, maybe a swim in the pool, nanna nap in the afternoon, dinner, maybe a dvd, read then sleep.Next day: repeat...
More company
Its our last week in Port Douglas and Cam and Di have joined us. They arrived on the late flight at 1am and made it to the house at 2am. The weather hasn't been super with overcast skies, but we haven't any firm plans, so I guess that doesn't really matter! More relaxation...
